Musician & Recording Artist
Music has remained one of the foundational threads throughout Frederick's life and career. His journey in church music began remarkably early, as he started playing the piano for the Baptist church at just five years old. It was there that he developed a deep love and appreciation for the hymns of the church and the rich musical traditions that would continue to shape his musicianship for decades to come.
Frederick was also deeply influenced by attending church with his maternal grandmother, who was a Holiness preacher. Through those experiences, he was introduced to the expressive worship traditions of the Holiness church and developed an early understanding and appreciation for the work, presence, and movement of the Holy Spirit. The combination of Baptist hymnody and Holiness worship became an important part of his spiritual and musical foundation, shaping both how he understands worship and how he approaches music ministry today.
As a recording artist, vocalist, pianist, musician, choir director, and music ministry leader, he has spent more than four decades serving through music. His musical work reflects a deep appreciation for gospel music, traditional hymns, sacred music, Negro Spirituals, and other forms of music that inspire faith, reflection, and connection.
As a recording artist, Frederick continues to use music as an extension of his ministry and creative expression, bringing together his experience as a vocalist, musician, arranger, and communicator. His recordings reflect his commitment to preserving meaningful musical traditions while presenting them in ways that speak to contemporary audiences.
His extensive background in church music has also given him a deep understanding of the spiritual, musical, and organizational disciplines required to build effective music ministries. For Frederick, music ministry extends beyond performance—it is a vehicle for worship, storytelling, education, cultural preservation, encouragement, healing, and service.
Frederick is also a member of The Palmetto Voices Spiritual Ensemble, a distinguished collective of professional vocalists and musicians committed to preserving and presenting the rich heritage of the Negro Spiritual. The ensemble presents four concerts annually, celebrating the history, faith, resilience, cultural significance, and enduring legacy of this uniquely American musical tradition.
